Initiative 03
Liberty
Let freedom ring
Human beings are better off when they are free. When people are free to speak, worship, associate, and pursue their own ideas of a good life, societies flourish. When they aren’t, power takes the place of choice.
Time and again, free markets and free trade have proven to be the greatest engine of prosperity humanity has ever known. Where markets are allowed to work, living standards rise, poverty retreats, and ordinary people build better lives for themselves and their families. That is not an accident; it is what happens when free people exchange, innovate, and cooperate voluntarily rather than by decree.
This initiative is about something more fundamental than politics. I believe we’re in a moment where liberalism must defeat illiberalism, where we must uphold rights and the rule of law, reason and rationality, and a pluralistic, secular society. This is a call to defend our Enlightenment inheritance.
Freedom and prosperity reinforce one another. I support organizations that defend this understanding, make the case for liberty clearly and well, and keep alive the intellectual and moral foundations of a free society.
